Tuesday began to show problems. What we mistakenly had done, was remove the torque converter from the transmission, making it an absolute bastard to bolt back up, and near impossible. After numerous failed attempts to place the torque converter back inside the transmission bell housing, Glen and I decided we would remove the transmission from the pit in the garage out into daylight. Note to enthusiasts looking to do this – automatic transmissions are heavy, do not remove the torque converter, you do not need to do this. Practically the first attempt at placing the converter into the bell housing was successful, once out in daylight and not in a cramped pit. We both then struggled with it back down into the pit, placing it on various pieces of wood and the jack, maneuvering it successfully into place, and bolting that sucker up as soon as we could. This simple mistake of removing the torque converter resulted in the whole mission taking another 5-6 hours to get right..
